The outpatient unit of the CRU has 3 dedicated exam rooms and access to any of the 10 inpatient beds that are not being utilized. Outpatient services are available 24 hours a day every day with the exception of 2 weekends per month. CRU staff consists of 8 full time nurses, 1 70% time nurse, a nurse manager, 2 clinical technicians, 1 laboratory technician and 1 clerk.
CRU staff participate in a wide range of studies and see research participants with a myriad of diagnoses. They have the experience and capabilities to adapt to a wide variety of protocols and procedures.

The CRU also has an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) available Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings to assist with study protocols. An ARNP is a registered nurse with specialized advanced education and clinical competency to practice autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to diagnose, treat and manage a patient's health problems. They may also be involved in research and education. Nurse practitioners practice under the rules and regulations of the Nurse Practice Act of the state in which they work and are nationally certified in their specialty area.
