In an ongoing effort to remove barriers to clinical and translational research, stimulate new interactions, and encourage innovative multidisciplinary research and training programs, The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science provides investigators with a number of research resources. - Research Funding Opportunities: This site provides information regarding research funding opportunities, including R03 and R01 grants, ICTS sponsored grants, pilot grants, and grants available through partner institutions.
- Clinical Research Unit (CRU): This page provides information about the CRU facility, protocols, ICTS core lab support, inpatient and outpatient services, flexible nursing services, and oral/craniofacial research.
- Pilot Research: This page provides definitions and characteristics of translational and clinical science.
- Informational Videos: The ICTS provides informational videos intended to ease the research process. Currently, these include videos of presentations and workshops presented at the 4th Annual UMC Meeting of Clinical and Translational Science Organizations, a top ten list for effective grant writing, important changes in the NIH grant application process, and excerpts from ICTS sponsored bi-monthly meetings where research professionals exchange ideas, educate one another, and enhance their professional growth.
- Loki Research Profiles: Loki is a web-based networking application that fosters collaboration among researchers across all disciplines throughout the University. Initially created in support of Research Week 2007, Loki is attracting significant attention within the CTSA consortium.
- Genetics and Genomics: This page offers contact information and a detailed description of resources and services available from the ICTS's Genetics and Genomics Key Function.
- Informatics: This page offers contact information and a description of resources and services available from the ICTS's Biomedical Informatics Key Function.
- Pediatrics: This page offers contact information and a description of resources and services available from the ICTS's Clinical and Translational Research in Pediatrics Key Function.
- Core Research Facilities: The Carver College of Medicine, ICTS, and University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center have partnered together to support and provide centralized laboratories dedicated to developing and providing state-of-the-art research resources to facilitate biomedical resources. This site provides information about accessing these laboraties on a fee-for-service basis, and provides links to a number of College of Medicine and University of Iowa supported facilities.
- HawkIRB: Link to The University of Iowa's Internal Review Board page for regularly updated IRB information and protocol submission and revision by principal investigators, research team members, and/or designees.
- Human Subjects Office (IRB): Link to The University of Iowa's Office of the Vice President for Research Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and Human Subjects Office (HSO). This site provides a plethora of information for researchers and community members alike regarding general information, local and federal guidelines, policies, resource tools, and the overall safety of human research subjects.
- Nanotechnology: Informative site promoting services and resources available from The Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Iowa.
- Biostatistics Research Design and Analysis: Services and resources available from the Biostatistics & Epidemiology Cores of the BERD key function.
- Research Professional Informational Meetings: Access to bi-monthly ICTS informational meeting schedule, speaker info, and topics.
- Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP): Under the Office of the Vice President for Research, this resource provides assistance to the university community seeking external funding for faculty, staff, and student research, training, and service activities. The DSP also provides institutional signature authority to applications, contracts, and material transfer agreements, negotiates terms and conditions acceptable to faculty/staff and sponsor, provides post-award administration, provides regulatory compliance, and reports to the Board of Regents, the Iowa Legislature, university administration and the general public.
