About the CTSA Consortium

The University of Iowa Institute for Clinical and Translational Science is one of 46 medical research institutions working together as a national consortium to improve the way biomedical research is conducted across the country. The consortium, funded through the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA), shares a common vision to reduce the time it takes for laboratory discoveries to become treatments for patients, and to engage communities in clinical research efforts. It is also fulfilling the critical need to train the next generation of clinical researchers. The CTSA initiative is led by the National Center for Research Resources at the National Institutes of Health.

ICTS Key Functions: An Overview

The Institute has established 12 key functions. Each key function is led by an associate director and/or the key function director and other co-directors. These key functions help fulfill the Institute's broader mission by providing individuals with invaluable resources and educational opportunities to promote collaboration, communication, and the sharing of best practices across a variety of clinical and translational research areas.

We invite you to click on the following links to learn more about each key function's goals, current projects, and available resources.

About The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science

The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) is the epicenter of clinical and translational research at the University of Iowa. It is home to the NIH funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) at the University of Iowa and is one of only 46 facilities of its kind in the nation. As a member of the CTSA consortium, we are dedicated to providing the synergy, resources, and experience necessary to forge networks and develop new cures and treatments for disease. We help establish unique collaborations because we believe everyone plays an important role in advancing the nation's health.
