UI researchers working to improve lung cancer treatments

The ICTS supported the animal work and part of the cell culture work in this research through the Looking Into Clinical Connections (LINCC) program that brought together Drs. Spitz, Bhatia, Fath, and Buatti to work on lung cancer projects of mutual interest.

“Without the ICTS LINCC support the animal work in the Clin Cancer Res paper as well as the preclinical ketogenic diet and lung cancer therapy studies (now in review at Clin Cancer Res) would not have been possible and neither would the open clinical trial: Using Ketogenic Diets to Enhance Radio-Chemo- Therapy Response: A Phase I Trial. The clinical trial received support from NCI grant #R21CA161182-01 based upon preliminary animal data gathered with ICTS support.” --Dr. Spitz
