There are ways to make Epic work for you when you are conducting research. The ICTS has invited Doug Van Daele, MD, to present at our upcoming Clinical Lecture Series. Dr. Van Daele was recently named Chief Medical Information Officer for UI Health Care and, as such, is responsible for supporting the development of clinical information systems that promote high quality patient care. He is also a member of the Steering Committee for the UIHC Epic Project and has been an integral part of bringing Epic to UIHC.

The Midwest Consortium (MC) for education and research collaboration began in 2006 with three Roadmap K12 institutions (Mayo Clinic, University of Minnesota, and University of Wisconsin-Madison) initiating annual meetings. This successful consortium continued over four subsequent years, with the most recent meeting at the University of Iowa in June 2009. The consortium expanded as other institutions were funded under the CTSA and IDeA mechanisms. The annual meetings were devoted to enhancing scientific research education and collaboration for K12 and KL2 scholars. The MC provides a unique opportunity for scholars, mentors and program leadership to focus on addressing specific challenges and opportunities in conducting research in the Midwest.
